STORY WALL Space Dividers Enhancing Learning at Puotila Elementary School
At Puotila Elementary School in Helsinki, the acoustics of the classrooms were improved by introducing movable STORY WALL space dividers.
As part of its learning environment development, Puotila Elementary School set out to create spaces that support concentration, adapt to various educational needs, and offer a functional and engaging atmosphere. As part of the renovation, 53 STORY WALL space dividers and 9 corner pieces were delivered to the school in collaboration with Martela to help structure the open learning areas.
These solutions made it possible to create learning environments that are pedagogically effective, visually clear, and acoustically calm. They support both individual work and group activities.
Adaptable Spaces to Support Teaching
The STORY WALL is an acoustic and movable space divider that combines functionality with refined design. It effectively absorbs sound, adds visual clarity to open areas, and enables flexible layout changes without requiring permanent structures. The built-in wheels make the unit easy to move and reposition as needed.
At Puotila School, STORY WALL space dividers offered a practical solution for creating adaptable learning spaces. In addition, STORY WALL space dividers helped to calm down busy areas such as corridors and entrances.
Corner Pieces for Cohesive and Quiet Zones
In addition to the space dividers, corner pieces were used to create 90-degree angles and room-like zones without the need for permanent walls. These elements further improved visual clarity, enhanced acoustic conditions, and optimized the use of space. As a result, the learning areas became more focused and supportive of student engagement.
